Some Bunny to Love

  Hello!

Just finished this adorable little creature! Using another pattern off of the Lion Brand's website (fantastic site, if you've never checked it out the link is on the previous post).

The only real trouble I had going about it was with the ears. They look simple enough, but the hook size they say to use is a larger one than I'm used to using, which makes the stitches really difficult to work in the first 5 or so stitches. After that, it's not so difficult.

The pattern was pretty easy after that though, really straight forward. The colors featured in the picture that they showed was orange and hot pink... I decided to use white and brown. I found that I was thinking about sewing spots on the body and head, but instead I decided to make an ear and its tail brown to give it that multicolored look.

I also used pink to sew on a nose instead of what the pattern suggested, which was to sew a "Y" to show the mouth and nose. I think that just the nose turned out a lot better.

This bunny didn't take too much time and I really like how she came out.

The ears are too freaking cute!

A back shot so I could show the tail part.

Wolf

This little guy only took me a few hours, about 2 1/2, I believe.

The pattern I got off this great site, www.lionbrand.com - You sign up for free and then you can access all these really straight forward patterns. You can also buy all the materials for the project and change up colors and such.

So, yeah, I really loved the pattern. It turned out really well, and I decided to sew his legs so that he looked like he was laying down. I could definitely see these selling well at an artist's booth at an anime convention. It didn't take a whole lot of yarn, either. Very cute and it came out really well. I could do a lot with this pattern.

Elephant!

After DAYS of construction, I finally finished this adorable little guy!
The pattern left a lot to be desired. I had to completely design the trunk myself and I sewed the arms and legs on differently than the pattern suggested. I like him better this way. I'm pretty proud of him and besides some hiccups in the original pattern, he's still really freaking cute.

Squid

Posting the missing amigurumi squid, as promised :)

Extras... part 1

I promised cute stuffs... not just amigurumi :)
My pomeranian, Eevee

GRIMLOCK!!!!!

This is my first original design!!!!

So, it was Daniel's (one of my best friends) birthday.
I asked him, "Daniel, what do you want for your birthday?" As any good friend would ask.
His reply, "Make me a Grimlock."
My response, "-_____-"

For those of you who are unfamiliar, Grimlock is a Transformer. A T-Rex Transformer. Leader of the Dinobots. Here is a photo:

I had no idea how I was going to do this, but I started really putting my mind to it. Finally, after multiple attempts and headaches, I came out with this:

If I could do it over again there are some things I would change. For example, although this was the closest I could find to make the head, I would maybe want it more box like, and less like a lizard head. Also, the band of gold around the neck I would make thicker and switch the color in the stitch rather than what I actually did which was just wrap a bunch of gold yarn around it, lol.

But, all in all I was really impressed with how the legs came out especially, and the arms weren't all that bad either. The best part was that he actually stands up, which was a concern I had.

Grimlock is a one time deal though. It took entirely too long to even consider using for product.

Daniel asked me when I will be able to make him breathe fire.

Never.

Hedgehog's dilemma ; D

My fifth amigurumi!

If you can count, which let's all hope so, you will notice that I have not listed my fourth completed work! Well, that's because Danny (aforementioned fiance) asked me to make him a squid he saw and so I did that and immediately gave it to him before snapping a pic of it. So I will get that eventually, just so that I have a record of all my completed stuffies.

In the meantime! Number 5 is this little guy! It's kind of a (not so subtle) nod to Sonic the hedgehog, as I didn't like the "brown" fun hair stuff. So I used blue and I have to admit, it's freaking awesome.

I'm pretty proud of him because this is the first time I've really had to go "off pattern" and make significant adjustments. The pattern I bought was pretty useless, but it was a nice guideline, where I had been used to patterns holding my hand through the process. It was frightening for a little bit because I wasn't sure I was going to be able to pull it off, but I will say that my finished product is a lot cuter than what the pattern was going to have me do.

Seahorse!

This was my third amigurumi, although it took me longer to finish because I didn't read the pattern ahead of time. I have learned my lesson and will know in the future to NOT sew up the head without first snapping in those handy safety eyes.
I thought about doing buttons for eyes, but decided against it because, let's face it - buttons are a huge pain in the ass. Especially if one has no idea how to sew. Which I do not. I am making up a lot of the sewing parts of making amigurumi as i go along, lol. I do seem to be getting better as I go along, so there's something.

As for selling these guys at an anime convention... I'm not 100% sold on the idea. At first I was toying with the idea of doing a "sea creatures" collection, which would include the octopus from a few posts ago and then making others, but there are really cute furred beasts that would work well too. I'll just have to see, haha!

Giraffe

This giraffe is the second hardest amigurumi I have ever made. It was my second attempt and although it came out freaking adorable, I don't think I could do more than one in a day. This particular one took me about 8 hours.

This is a shot from the front, I used purple and green as they are my favorite colors. I think she turned out really cute, if I do say so myself : )

This is a shot from behind, I really wanted to show off the tail, which I originally thought was going to be really complicated, but ended up being the easiest part, lol.

First post... and an octopus.

Horray! First blog post : )
So, I'm Shelby, aka Shebyl, and I have recently gotten into crocheting things! I started slow, with granny squares and whatnot and finally I have started making amigurumi! I'm hoping to keep practicing and making my own patterns and such. End goal for this is to turn it into a somewhat profitable business by taking them to anime conventions and selling them.
But until then, I will be posting finished, in process, etc stuff that I'm working on.
So, to start off, this was my first amigurumi that I made. It was super easy and didn't take too long to make, so I'm thinking this will definitely be a contender for the products I would want to sell.

I gave this little guy to my fiance, since he loves octopi and squids and such.
